History:

(X-Men '97 II#2 - BTS) - Cast out from society because of his physical mutation, Berzerker became part of the Morlocks, a group of mutants living in the abandoned sewer tunnels and atomic bomb shelters that honeycomb Manhattan.

(X-Men '97 II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Still living in the Morlock tunnels following Callisto's death on Genosha, Berzerker and the other Morlocks were approached by Exodus' Acolytes, who established a staging zone in the tunnels. Seeking to fulfill Magneto's vision, Exodus was building a movement for mutantkind and offered all mutants the opportunity to join them.

(X-Men '97 II#2) - X-Force descended into the Morlock tunnels searching for Caliban, who had once served Apocalypse as a Hound, hoping he could reveal the whereabouts of the Horseman War. Viewing them as a threat to their plans, the Acolytes used Annalee to lure X-Force into an ambush. After the two teams fought to a standstill, Cable and Frenzy began negotiating, with Cable demanding to know whether the Acolytes were holding the Morlocks hostage. Berzerker, Thornn, Spoor and several other Morlocks interested in the Acolytes' offer emerged as Frenzy explained Exodus' goals for mutantkind. Meanwhile, Jubilee and Psylocke located Caliban and learned War's whereabouts. Once X-Force departed, Frenzy declared the Acolytes' staging zone compromised and ordered her team to abandon it.

Comments: Created by Louise Simonson and Walter Simonson;
    adapted by Steve Foxe and Salva Espin.

In X-Men '97 II#2 (July, 2026), Archangel (Warren Worthington III) told the other members of X-Force that many Morlocks moved to Genosha after it was established as a mutant homeland, believing they finally had an opportunity to live safely in the open. Following the events of Operation Zero Tolerance, they returned to the tunnels. Although Berzerker wasn't seen during the first season of X-Men '97, he may have been among the Morlocks who temporarily relocated to Genosha. By the Acolytes' next appearance, in the X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Strange Land, Savage Heart" (July 29, 2026), Spoor and Mellencamp had joined their ranks, while Glow Worm, Berzerker and Thornn had not, suggesting they declined the Acolytes' offer.

When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
