History: (Avengers III#21 (fb) - BTS) - Alkhema created her War Toys as robotic slaves/lackeys

(Avengers III#21) - The War Toys broke into the government complex where Alkhema was being held, having been summoned there by Alkhema herself to free her.

(Avengers III#22) - Following the Avengers' defeat of Ultron, the War Toys retrieved the Avengers' mind engrams for Alkhema.

(Avengers: Ultron Imperative) - The Avengers tracked Alkhema to her underground base in Egypt, where she was working with her Robos and Bio-Synthezoids. While the Avengers marveled at Robotopia, the War Toys ambushed and incapacitated them. The Avengers later got free and the Grim Reaper and Ultron showed up and joined the fight, as well. The War Toys fought against all of the invaders until Hawkeye blew up Alkhema with a vibranium arrow. With Alkhema's destruction, her base blew up, presumably destroying the War Toys.

As mentioned by TJ Burns, and clarified by Prime Eternal:
The War Toys were based on robots Perez had drawn way way back in Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction#2.
Bob Almond mentioned it on the AMB way back in '99.
