Powers/Abilities: Max wielded an axe, which he used for torturing his victims.

History: (Daredevil I#234)- After the insane superhuman Madcap interfered with the activities of the Rose, the Rose placed a $5000 reward out for Madcap's death. A team of criminals managed to capture Madcap, brought him to a garage, and turned him over to Max the Axe, who was to torture and kill him. Max struck Madcap repeatedly with his axe, but the invulnerable lunatic was unharmed.

Daredevil burst onto the scene to rescue Madcap, and defeated Max the Axe, but when the garage was set on fire by the Rose's men, Daredevil had to chose between saving Madcap or the unconscious Max the Axe. He chose to save Max, and brought him to safety as Madcap was consumed by the flames...only to walk out of the morgue hours later.
