History: - Little is known of Cookie's early life. Alive in the late 1800's, all that is known is that he eventually became the cook in a camp where the workers of a quarry lived. He often gave people in the camp less food than he was supposed to and took more of it for himself. That is why he was the only fat person in the camp. Apparently, for this reason, very few people liked Cookie, and everybody made fun of him all the time.

(Wolverine: The Origin#4)  - When James Howlett (Wolverine) was working in the quarry as a young boy, he dropped his wheel barrow full of stones, but before it could tip over, Cookie helped him straighten it. However, right after James thanked him, he let it fall off a cliff.

Later on, after being made fun of by some workers, he decided to take more anger out on James, who was a boy and could not defend himself properly. He went to James and insincerely apologized, but then started to beat the living hell out of James accusing him of stealing his food, but in reality, for no reason other than to be cheered on for once. He was stopped by Smitty, the person who ran the quarry. After that, Cookie apparently told James to not walk a certain way to his living quarters anymore.

Some time later, James walked that way anyway, and Cookie attacked him again, and might have killed him if Smitty had not interfered again, this time giving Cookie quite a licking.

(Wolverine: The Origin#5) - Even later still, when James was a young man instead of a boy, Cookie sabotaged the dynamite sticks that James was going to plant by cutting the fuses so it blew up almost immediately. Five men died as a result, but not James. During the men's funerals, Cookie went into the worker's cabins and stole valuables, until James showed up and beat the snot out of him.

(Wolverine: The Origin#6) - The last time James and Cookie fought was when they both signed up to fight a series of matches inside a steel cage with the winner getting $200, which in the 1800's was a lot. Cookie was slipped a pair of brass knuckles by Dog to use against James, but James defeated him nonetheless. He did not stop stealing, though it is not known what happened to him after James left the quarry.

Comments: Created by Paul Jenkins and Andy Kubert

Malone's first name wasn't revealed as pointed out by Wolfram Bane. Originally he was listed in this profile as Ted, but Ted was a similar looking guy (except for a moustache) at the camp, who was often late for his shifts. Smitty tried to sell a clock to Ted in Origin#6 and Cookie was seen in the same panel, so they are two different persons.
