History: (Punisher II#1 (fb, BTS))- Bruce Ayers served in Vietnam at Marble Mountain airbase in 1968. While there he met Frank Castle and Chris Hoyle.

After he returned from Vietnam he married, had two children, and founded a small charter company in Key West.

(Punisher II#1 (BTS))- Ayers met with Chris Hoyle. Chris wanted him in on a deal transporting drugs from Bolivia to USA.

(Punisher II#1 (fb))- Bruce met with Frank Castle at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington. He told him that he had met with Chris Hoyle the day before, and that Hoyle wanted Ayers in on a drug deal from Bolivia to "Rockhouses" in USA. He told Frank that he hadn't decided whether or not to join the operation yet. He also informed Frank that there was a "Rockhouse" in Lasalle St. in New York City. They talked about how Hoyle managed to get his name on the memorial wall when he actually survived the war. Frank asked Ayers how Hoyle found him, and Ayers told him that he wasn't that hard to find, with him being a regular family guy with a wife and two kids. Frank told Ayers that he should stay out of the deal, and Ayers told Frank that he planned on doing that, thinking to himself that he was "too old for that commando stuff anyway."

(Punisher II#1 (BTS))- After refusing to join Hoyle's organization, Ayers was killed, made to look like a suicide.

As is always the case when dealing with the Punisher, references to the Vietnam war are topical.
