Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Substratum functions as an underground laboratory, complete with stasis tanks and various places for plant life to grow and be experimented upon.

History: (Avengers: Curse of the Man-Thing#1 (fb) - BTS) - The zealot botanists known as Hordeculture began utilizing the Substratum as an underground laboratory.

(Avengers: Curse of the Man-Thing#1) - Harrower, great-niece of Hordeculture member Augusta Bromes, met with Hordeculture in the Substratum to suggest the idea of removing humanity from Earth's ecosystem by merging humans with plant life. Hordeculture disapproved of Harrower's plans, however, and the group argued with Harrower inside the Substratum until Harrower angrily teleported away.

• Subzero Zone - Microverse, Homeworld, frozen region that contains Polaria - Micronauts I#24
