History: (Marvel Super Heroes Official Game Accessory: New York, New York - BTS) - Sam and his wife lived in the Bronder Building on Cleveland Street in New York. One day, Sam became stuck in the building's ancient elevator between the fifth and sixth floors, which triggered his asthma and made him unable to answer his wife's reassuring calls. Thirty minutes after having phoned the police, Sam's panicking wife went outside, where she spotted a superhero passing by. She didn't know what to call the hero, as she and Sam didn't know the names of many heroes, having not encountered many. When the hero pulled Sam from the elevator via unrevealed means, Sam received his medicine and asked if the hero's costume was the new police uniform.

Comments: Created by Kate Novak, Jeff Grubb and Dennis Kauth.

Given this was a role-playing game, what heroes Sam dealt with was up to the players. Spider-Man, Captain America or even the Hulk (or any number of other options) could be passing by, potentially making Sam's remarks about their costume even funnier. The player could earn Karma points for pulling Sam free, getting him his medicine and fixing the elevator.

The interior art in the "New York, New York" accessory was credited to Jeff Butler and the Mighty Marvel Bullpen (Bret Blevins, Kerry Gammill, Butch Guice, Walt Simonson, John Romita, Sr., Frank Miller, Jim Shooter, Luke McDonnell, Brian Postman, Mike Zeck, Bob Layton, John Byrne, June Brigman, Bob Wiacek). However, Sam's part of the story had no art whatsoever (excepting a diagram of the layout of his apartment complex) so these artists would likely not be involved in Sam's creation. I've listed them here for reference. --Proto-Man
