History:

(Astonishing Tales I#7/1 (fb)) - The explorer extraterrestrials Damon and his love Lelania came from a peaceful paradisiacal world.

(Astonishing Tales I#6/1 (fb)) - Damon and Lelania arrived on Earth in the Savage Land some 5000 (or 500, see comments) years ago. They were enchanted by the Savage Land's beauty until a large dinosaur trampled Lelania, seemingly killing her. Enraged and mourning, Damon used his scepter to summon storms that lashed the Savage Land with floods for almost 40 days. He retreated and slept for centuries. Damon and Lelania's arrival and Damon's later rage became a legend told across centuries in the Savage Land.

(Astonishing Tales I#6/1) - Damon awoke after centuries in recovering slumber and resumed his rage across the Savage Land skies, witnessed by Ka-Zar and his friend, Savage Land local Tongah, who was awed by Damon's power and thought him a god. Damon's storms caused renewed flooding, impacting Tongah's sister Tatia and young brother Emuel. Damon saw that changes had occurred but that death endured and, unforgiving, he would wipe away all creatures with flood and storms. Ka-Zar and Tongah attacked Damon, but he cast them aside with his powerful scepter. Ka-Zar's protective sabretooth cat next charged at him.

(Astonishing Tales I#6/1 / Ka-Zar II#1 (fb)) - Damon zapped Zabu away with his scepter.

(Astonishing Tales I#6/1) - Tatia and Emuel found refuge in a cave where they found Damon's spaceship; inside lay a comatose Lelania. Outside, Damon continued his storm-fueled  fury.

(Astonishing Tales I#7/1) - Ka-Zar fired arrows into the cliff edge that caused Damon to fall and he wrestled the scepter away from Damon, causing the storms to cease. Elsewhere, alien technology hypnotized Tatia and her mind merged with Lelania and the alien recovered. Meanwhile, Zabu roared a call for a stampede of dinosaurs, awakening fear in Damon and he leapt away. But soon ready to fight Ka-Zar once more, he was stopped by the reawakened Lelania. Initially shocked to see her, Damon was happy again and the pair strode peacefully to their small starship and blasted into space.

Comments: Created by Gerry Conway, Barry Windsor-Smith, Bill Everett.

There is slight confusion in the time of his original arrival in the Savage Land, whether it was 5000 years ago (issue #6) or 500 years ago (issue #7, where it's "half a millennium, cited once).

He's ascribed god-like status, but he's basically a tantrum-throwing super-powered alien.

It seems a bit unusual to have a 2-part storyline changing writers between issues, unless it was originally intended to run longer but cut short with the new writer.
