History:

(Dazzler I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Amora's Asgardian admirer had long heard stories of the Enchantress' supposed unmatched beauty. Fired on by poets exalting Amora's thrilling face and exquisite form, he made it his life's mission to one day view her eternal beauty with his own eyes.

(Dazzler I#1 - BTS) - The Asgardian admirer donned his battle gear as he started to ascend the golden stairwell leading to the Enchantress' palace in a remote part of Asgard. It took him eight days of climbing to reach the top of the stairs and the guarded palace gates.

(Dazzler I#1) - The warrior was approached by Amora's hulking guardians who immediately tried to send him away. He was not intimidated by their threatening stance, warning them that not even the hordes of Hela could keep him from his goal. Drawing his sword, he engaged the guards.

(Dazzler I#1 - BTS) - The warrior defeated Amora's guardians at great personal cost. Gravely injured, he made his way into the palace to look for the object of his affection.

(Dazzler I#1) - Limping down the majestic corridors of Amora's palace, the bleeding godling warrior was surprised to find two massive doors swinging open to welcome him. Lured in by the sweet scent of spices, he was astonished to find Amora waiting for him on her throne. Slightly bemused by his presence, she demanded to know what brought him to her. He explained the craving for witnessing her undying beauty and begged to "prostrate himself in her worship for all eternity". The cruel Enchantress granted his wish and with a quick, unholy spell transformed his body into a living willow tree. Pleased with her handiwork, the Enchantress declared that he would now worship her forevermore: "In the spring the wind rustling through thy leaves will sing my glory. In winter, thou shalt stand in mute admiration of my incomparable beauty. Thy boon is granted, boastful one. Hast thou no word of thanks?"

Comments: Created by Tom DeFalco, John Romita Jr., Alfredo Alcala.

The poor Asgardian sap was never named in Dazzler I#1. After consulting with the issue's writer Tom DeFalco, the name 'Amora's Asgardian admirer' was agreed on. It's hard to pass up some alliterative action in the mighty Marvel manner.

The brutal way Enchantress mutilated her admirer is something straight out of classic mythology where the gods were (in)famously fickle and cruel. You do hope she granted him the small mercy of death.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Amora's Asgardian admirer should not be confused with:

Amora's guardians

Two hulking ogres stood guard outside Amora the Enchantress' Agardian palace. Their imposing figures did not intimidate away the godling warrior who had walked the golden stairwell leading up to the palace for eight days in order to see Enchantress. When the intruder refused to leave, they attacked but they proved no match for the crazed warrior who defeated them to gain entrance to the palace.
