History:
(Daredevil III#12 (fb) ) - Professor Leopold York taught law at Columbia University. He had a reputation for being harsh, impatient, and cruel with his students. York had had a stroke and used a cane in the classroom. While he liked his student Matt Murdock, he was extremely hard on Foggy Nelson. York accused Foggy of plagiarizing a paper and expelled him, so Matt went to York, who showed him that Foggy's paper was copied from one of York's former students, Marianne Kaplan, and Matt directly accused York of lying about Foggy. York ordered Matt out of his office, telling Murdock he could expel them both. Matt brought Foggy to the next classroom and locked the door behind him, saying he was hosting a mock trial between Foggy and York. Matt submitted evidence that Foggy was innocent, and that York had plagiarized the paper himself, putting Foggy's name on it. York was ready to refute and expel both students until Foggy helped the class realize that the handwriting on the paper matched York's handwriting from before the stroke, meaning he had copied the paper directly. York dismissed class and gently told Foggy and Matt they were welcome back at class. Foggy and Matt both later passed his class.
