Batlin agreed to get the city off Stithy's back in exchange for some metal work and a free place to live for a year.

(Daredevil I#330 (fb) - BTS) - Stithy found an abandoned space for Batlin, and built him a complex metal framework room to work out in.

(Daredevil I#331 - BTS) - Batlin moved into the building, approved by Theodore "Hot Metal" Stithy.

(Daredevil I#338) - Stithy, a blacksmith turned artist, cheered when he saw Batlin disarm a man's gun. Batlin gave the gun to Stithy to melt down, then Stithy warned him that Ernie "Whack'Em" Wagner was pressing to shut Batlin's building down unless Wagner got a cut of the profits.

(Daredevil I#340) - Batlin got the city to back off Stithy's building. As Stithy worked with metal, he heard about the death of Glorianna O'Breen on the television.
