History:
(Daredevil IV#15.1/2 (fb) - BTS) - Luiz Sifuentes was in Central Park when he heard gunshots.

(Daredevil IV#15.1/2) - Sifuentes ran toward the gunshots and found a man dead with a gun nearby. Not thinking clearly, Sifuentes picked up the gun. Daredevil rushed in and tackled Sifuentes, who was then arrested for the murder. In the courtroom of Judge Mandelbaum, Sifuentes was assigned Matt Murdock as his pro bono attorney (assigned by Mr. Wheeler). After Sifuentes was denied bail, Murdock questioned him about the case, knowing the gun had been found on the scene with Sifuentes' fingerprints on the gun. Sifuentes explained what had happened. Murdock later tried to argue that Daredevil's involvement made the case inadmissible, but the judge turned that argument down. Later, Murdock offered Sifuentes a plea bargain of 15 years in jail if he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and Sifuentes initially considered it, but he turned it down. Soon, Murdock brought news that the actual murderers had been caught, and Sifuentes was let go.

This story occurred at a point when Daredevil was still wearing the yellow and black costume and before he started his law firm with Foggy, so before Daredevil I#1.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Luiz Sifuentes should not be confused with:

Judge Mandelbaum

(Daredevil IV#15.1/2) - Judge Mandelbaum heard the case of Luiz Sifuentes in her courtroom, and she denied Sifuentes bail. Matt Murdock represented Sifuentes, and argued that Daredevil's involvement in the case made it inadmissible at court, but the judge was hesitant to set a precedent of ruling out super hero interventions in courtrooms. Sifuentes briefly considered a plea bargain, but Murdock soon brought in proof that the actual killers had been apprehended, and Sifuentes was released.

Mr. Wheeler

(Daredevil IV#15.1/2 (fb) ) - Mr. Wheeler, a lawyer at the firm of Hutchins and Wheeler, employed Matt Murdock when he was right out of school.

(Daredevil IV#15.1/2) – Wheeler, knowing the firm had promised a certain amount of pro bono hours per year, assigned Murdock the case of Luiz Sifuentes. Later, Matt asked to be taken off the case, but Wheeler refused to listen.
