History:

(My Love II#3/3 (fb) - BTS) - Feeling her life empty after graduating, the idealistic Sheila Sandhurst volunteered to do social work in a poverty area.

(My Love II#3/3) - Arriving by train, Sandhurst was confronted by the poverty she saw in her allocated town. Ben Gibson, a scruffy but handsome engineer who had been drawn to helping people in the township, caught her eye, but subtly kept his distance. Sandhurst helped look after children while their parents sought work, but her mind was distracted by thoughts of Gibson. A flat tire almost left her stranded, but Gibson was following and helped her out. Believing there was mutual attraction, he kissed her, but she ran away and tried to avoid him, until she found out that he, too, came to the town to help the people. She tracked him down to his office and they kissed passionately. Gibson revealed his dreams to stay on near the town married to her, but she hoped for a wealthier life and fled to the train station to leave. While waiting, she realized the true love they shared, regardless of location, and instead let the train pass by to stay with Gibson.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee (writer), John Buscema (pencils), John Verpoorten (inks).

The sign on the train station is cut by the panel, but finishes with "otsville".

These romance stories often had the flavor of the time in which they were written, and nothing else to tie them into Marvel's sliding timescale. As such, it's likely that the stories took place at the time of publication rather than being part of the sliding timescale.
