Chapter 9: Exequies (fb) - BTS) - Wachtel was a German immigrant who lived in Espirito Santo, Brazil.
He was involved in the monitoring of the force field dome placed around Alcalanos by the Diascar to contain Chlorite contamination.
(X-Men: Watchers on the Walls: Chapter 9: Exequies - BTS) - After Wolverine entered the dome (via Kitty Pryde's phasing power) to stop an energy-draining mutant from disabling the force field, Nightcrawler transported to the nearby army camp in Espirito Santo to obtain a biohazard suit to help protect Wolverine from the toxic chlorine while he sought out the Chlorite mole within the dome.
(X-Men: Watchers on the Walls: Chapter 9: Exequies) - Captain Wachtel and others were surprised by Nightcrawler's sudden arrival, but they swiftly recognized him as an ally and lowered their weapons. Recognizing Wachtel, Nightcrawler jogged over to him and explained his needs. Wachtel and others helped Nightcrawler into a biohazard suit and then gave him an another for Wolverine, after which Nightcrawler transported to Wolverine's side.
