History: (X-Factor III#8 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Malcolm Modern set up a small lab, dubbed Modern Labs, in the Mutant Town section of New York City, where he offered his scientific services to those who sought him out. After obtaining skin samples of Damian Tryp, Sr. and Damian Tryp, Jr. from the rival Singularity Investigations, Jamie Madrox sent the samples to Dr. Malcolm Modern for analyz

arranged to meet with Dr. Malcolm Modern to have the skin samples analyzed.

(X-Factor III#8) -  Jamie Madrox and his teammate Strong Guy visited Modern Labs to find out what Dr. Modern had learned from the skin samples. Greeting Madrox from behind a shelving unit, Dr. Modern remarked that it had taken Madrox long enough to get there and reminded Madrox that he had other clients. Strong Guy sarcastically quipped back at how efficient Dr. Modern's lab appeared and when Modern asked if Strong Guy had a problem, Strong Guy replied that it seemed strange calling the place Modern Labs when it looked like something out of a 1950s B movie. After being assured that his services were needed by Madrox, Dr. Modern explained that Modern Labs appeared very disorganized to dissuade unauthorized personnel from finding anything confidential. He then opened a folder marked "weird" and revealed that the skin samples contained uncharted DNA markers. Modern continued, explaining that the skin samples appeared to be of a subspecies of humanity, prompting Madrox to agree that the particular sample must be from Damian Tryp, Sr. When Madrox asked about the second sample, from Damian Tryp, Jr., a confused Dr. Modern admitted that he thought Madrox had sent him two of the same sample to be safe. Modern then revealed to a very confused Madrox that the skin samples appeared to be from the same person.
