History: (Amazing Spider-Man Annual I#18) - Daily Bugle staffer Ann MacIntosh grabbed a leaked invite to the J. Jonah Jameson/Marla Madison wedding from Peter Parker so she could write an announcement in the society pages.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#260) - Ann stopped at Betty Leeds' desk to tell her that Jameson had already returned from his honeymoon after one week - only to be interrupted by Jameson himself, who told her to get back to work.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#115) - Ann made out with fellow Bugle employee Ralph Mackie in a broom closet until they were interrupted by Peter, who was looking for a place to change into his Spider-Man suit. Embarrassed, they both left.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#285) - With Betty Leeds calling in "sick" (inasmuch as she was in the middle of a nervous breakdown), Ann manned her desk for the day. When Peter dropped by, asking after Betty, she told him the situation, and suggested he call on her sometime, instead.

(Spider-Man I#69) - Ann said hello to Peter and his wife Mary Jane as they came into the Bugle offices.

(Daily Bugle#3) - When Betty Brant disappeared, Jameson assigned Ann to look through Betty's desk to see what she was last working on. There, she found the accounting paperwork for the Food Factory restaurant, which had been mailed to Betty by the establishment's guilt-ridden co-founder - examining it, Ann found that the numbers made no sense, unless the Food Factory was being used to launder money. She presented her findings to Jameson; combined with a taped interview Ben Urich found, they led the Bugle and the police to the Food Factory, where Betty was being held hostage.

Comments: Created by Tom DeFalco, Stan Lee, Ron Frenz, Bob Layton, and Jackson Guice.

I have no idea why Ann MacIntosh, after a small handful of appearances in the '80s, disappeared for a decade, only to appear two more times in the '90s.

Ann's hair is colored black in ASM I#260 and 285. Maybe she dyed it for a little while?

Ralph Mackie is probably named after '80s Marvel editors Ralph Macchio and Howard Mackie.

Profile by Minor Irritant.
