History: (X-Men Millennial Visions - "Mutants, Mutants, Everywhere!" (fb) - BTS) - In the early part of the new millennium, the X-Men experienced a "lost time" phenomenon that transported them to the year 2017, where they found genetic advances had made the issue of mutants vs. humans irrelevant. Since the X-Men were no longer persecuted, they became public superheroes similar to the Avengers or Fantastic Four.

(X-Men Millennial Visions - "Mutants, Mutants, Everywhere!") - By 2030, Scott and Jean Summers had retired from heroics and become parents to the young Charles and Jeannette Summers. The other X-Men remained on active duty continuing Charles Xavier's dream but found time to visit with their old teammates, whose children Beast regaled with stories about how they were actually the children of mutants and not technically mutants themselves. Over time, no major villains or conflicts had arisen, granting the X-Men more and more free time.
