(Infinity: The Hunt#2 (fb) - BTS) - Crimson was selected to be one of the students participating at the Henry Pym-instigated  inaugural Contest of Champions, an intermural competition between international meta-human schools, which was opened at the Avengers Academy compound in Palo Alto, California.

(Infinity: The Hunt#2) - After student introductions, Thanos' gargantuan interstellar forces attacked. Shocked amid the devastation, Crimson stood next to the mutant Quentin Quire. Pym called the two toward him and Crimson consciously manifested his red wings, but a giant club from an alien left him completely smashed inside a wall; Crimson's wings dissipated.

Comments: Created by Matt Kindt (writer) and Steven Sanders (art)..

Crimson belonged to one of the schools already assembled at the Palo Alto compound for the intermural Contest of Champions: Avengers Academy, Future Foundation, Jean Grey School, and the Braddock Academy. Crimson was not introduced with the Braddock Academy students, so he was not from that one. Quentin Quire didn't seem to be familiar with him, so Crimson didn't seem affiliated with the Jean Grey School, and he didn't seem sufficiently intellectually advanced to be with the Future Foundation. So he was likely a new recruit at Avengers Academy.

The tale began in Palo Alto, then almost immediately shifted to Los Angeles (both in California) with the alien attack, yet the distance between the two locations is over 300 miles (500+ kilometers for the metrically inclined). I put this down to writing liberty.
