History: (Night Thrasher I#2 (fb) ) - Chagrin had spent some time in jail.

(Night Thrasher I#2) - Chagrin was hired by Midnight's Fire to drive a wedge between vigilante lovers Night Thrasher and Silhouette; she jumped at the chance, hoping to make a name for herself and, as she claimed, keep her parents off the welfare rolls. Disguised as Silhouette, Chagrin attacked a group of Concrete Dragons, a gang Silhouette had formerly been affiliated with, at Papa Sin's Billiards and Booze in Flushing, Queens. Still dressed as Silhouette, she watched from the rooftops as Night Thrasher searched for clues about the attack. Ditching the disguise, she later ambushed Night Thrasher and Silhouette at a warehouse full of smuggled goods in New Jersey. She landed a few good blows on both of them as she cruelly taunted them, but as she concentrated on Night Thrasher, Silhouette used her powers to slip through the shadows and sneak up behind her, tagging her with one of her crutches. Defeated, Chagrin offered the name of her employer - but only if Night Thrasher, who she was convinced was attracted to her, kissed her first. With Silhouette's approval, he complied, and Chagrin told them she was hired by Midnight's Fire - after which Silhouette knocked her out cold.

Comments: Created by Fabian Nicieza, Javier Saltares, and Jeff Albrecht.

Chagrin is a feeling of annoyance or embarrassment, and I guess Chagrin calls herself that because of her incessant bothersome blathering. Of course, given that this issue features Silhouette, whose real first name is in fact Silhouette, it's possible "Chagrin" is actually her real name.

Chagrin! Silhouette! Midnight's Fire! This whole issue is a battle over who has the Fabian Nicieza-iest name.

Chagrin is depicted using a pair of knives on the cover, but in the issue itself, she just uses a bo staff.

Profile by Minor Irritant.
