History:
(Rom#38 (fb) - BTS) - Ethan Carruthers, a rather dapper looking gentleman, worked for the British government as an orphanage inspector.
(Rom#38 (fb) - BTS) - Carruthers was tasked to check on an orphanage in Mallet, England. After failing to reach the orphanage by phone to set up an inspection, he decided to go ahead and drop by unannounced.
(Rom#38) - Carruthers arrived at an orphanage in Mallet for his inspection. Unknown to him, the headmistress of the orphanage was one of the female Dire Wraiths known as Mara. She took Carruthers to see the children (actually Dire Wraiths) in a stupor, almost freezing. Carruthers threatened to file charges against Mara who then set the "children" upon him. Carruthers was nearly killed, but was saved when Rom burst in (he had tracked the Wraiths to the orphanage). While Rom kept the Wraiths occupied, he sent Carruthers to find the real children. Carruthers heard chanting coming from the basement and observed Mara performing a spell to transform the children into monsters. He grabbed a torch and hurled it at her, setting her robes ablaze. Mara attempted to blast Carruthers, but Rom appeared once again and blocked the spell with his Neutralizer before banishing Mara to Limbo. Carruthers confirmed that the children were well and decided not to report the events, feeling they were unlikely to be believed anyway.
