History: (Avengers VI#3.1) - Sociologist Bette Canford appeared on a local New York City MMMTV program alongside city councilman Charles Olivetti to discuss the public backlash against the newest Avengers roster. After being introduced, Bette immediately wanted to dive in to the discussion and asked to have the show's host, Hugh, cut to MMMTV's field reporter Lucy, where all present saw Lucy interviewing people on the street until duplicates of the Mad Thinker's Awesome Android began raining down on the public. When Charles Olivetti remarked that MMMTV shouldn't be showing the panic in the streets and insisted that New York was a safe city, Bette responded that pictures didn't lie. Bette later watched from the MMMTV studio as the Avengers rounded up the Awesome Androids and field reporter Lucy reported the story.

Bette Canford's height and weight were impossible to determine, as she was never seen next to a character whose physical stats had been officially revealed and she was only ever seen sitting down. In addition, she was often seen with her head angled downward, preventing her eye color from being determined.
