listening to AhmetHistory:
(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb)) <35 years before the main story; see comments> - As a youth, perhaps 8-10 years old, in Al Jizah, Filene and a few other "loyal followers" enjoyed listening to their friend Ahmet's proclamation of being descended from the pharaohs as well as being the ruler of all Egypt.

When Hassan and his bully friends ridiculed Ahmet, Filene told Ahmet to pay them no mind.

When Hassan continued that Ahmet was mad as a jackal, Filene tried to calm things, noting they were all just playing, but Hassan argued that Ahmet didn't consider this a game and truly thought he would be king of the Earth.

After Hassan and his friends pelted Ahmet with mudballs, Filene asked Ahmet if he was alright.

Wiping the tears from his eyes, Ahmet assured Filene that they did not hurt him.pregnant

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb)) - Ahmet spent years in higher education, where his only friends were books and the silently admiring, ever-supportive Filene. Romance eventually blossomed.

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb)) - Filene remained understanding, even when Ahmet was mocked and given a three day suspension from faculty for disturbing class activities by announcing how he had discovered evidence that his own family line was linked to that of Egypt's ancient pharaoh.

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb)) - Romance turned to love and eventually to marriage for Filene and Ahmet.

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb)) - The newly married Ahmet and Filene moved to the American University at Cairo, where Ahmet earned a junior professorship. There Ahmet culminated his genealogical research, and Filene became pregnant and gave birth to their daughter, Salome.

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb) - BTS) - After Ahmet announced to the gathered scientific and religious communities of Cairo that the ancient pharaohs were actually mutants who could tap cosmic energies to wield their mysterious powers, the crowd responded fiercely, denouncing Abdol as a heretic and rushing him.adult, with baby

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb)) - Ahmet led Filene and the infant Salome to their car, and he sped away.

As Ahmet continued to race away, Filene told him to slow down as their followers were on foot. Nonetheless, worrying over what desperate, small minds could do, and recalling the abuse he received as a youth, Ahmet continued to race down the streets. When he rounded a corner, Filene saw small children playing, she warned Ahmet to look out, but as he swerved to miss them, he lost control of, crashed, and flipped the car; in mid-air, Filene cried out for Salome.

Ahmet and Salome were thrown to safety, but Ahmet found the burning car's doors crushed/fused shut, while Filene cried to him for help. Ahmet futilely begged the mob who had finally caught up to him to help him save his wife, but they stood by in silence while Filene perished in flames.

(Marvel Graphic Novel No. 17: Revenge of the Living Monolith (fb) / Uncanny X-Men I#376 (fb)) - Enraged over losing the only person who had ever understood him, Abdol lashed out at the protestors, subconsciously unleashing a plasma bolt that injured and scattered the mob.
