History: (Amazing Spider-Man I#204) - Flash Thompson introduced ESU science major Dawn Starr to their friend Peter Parker.  She immediately expressed a romantic interest in Pete, but when she told him that she was in the class he'd be teaching, he brushed her off, as dating her would be unethical.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#205) - Dawn came to visit Peter in his office; while he reiterated his stance, she changed his mind with a kiss.  They made a date for the following Sunday.  That night, Dawn convinced Peter's colleague Steve Hopkins to let her into the office to wait for Peter, claiming that Peter had changed the day of their date.  As she broke into Peter's filing cabinet and stole exam forms, she encountered Spider-Man, who obviously didn't believe her lies about Parker.  She admitted that she had feigned her attraction to Parker all along, and Spider-Man let her run away empty-handed.

Given that she first appeared in Wolfman's last issue of ASM, and was written out in the following issue (a David Michelinie fill-in), who knows what the original plan for Dawn was.
