Powers/Abilities: The Lictor was an extraterrestrial shapeshifting cyborg with its lower body and arms (or sometimes only its claws) covered in an adjustable metallic sheath. It could not increase its mass while morphing and had to sacrifice parts of its body to create new ones (e.g. to gain wings it sacrificed its legs). It possessed self-healing powers, could fire energy blasts from its eyes and possessed a full-body cloaking mechanism. It could regenerate from massive injuries within seconds and could grow wings to attain the power of flight. It could recognize different species and even individuals by their scent, which helped the Lictor determine its actual target it was sent to kill.

Height: 20' (by approximation)
Weight: 12 tons (by approximation)
Eyes: Solid green with partially black sclera
Hair: None

History:

(War Machine I#19 (fb) - BTS) - Lictors were banned on almost every world in the Protectorate.

(War Machine I#18 (fb) - BTS) - A Lictor was sent to Earth...

(War Machine I#19 (fb) - BTS) - ...to test James Rhodes after he bonded with an Eidolon Warwear.

(War Machine I#18 (fb) - BTS) - After landing on Earth the Lictor hunted Agent Genero all day.

(War Machine I#18) - After a few missed shots from Genero the Lictor killed Genero.

At Maitlin Lake two days later at dawn James Rhodes was fishing when Hawkeye came by to talk to him. Running away from the Lictor the extraterrestrial agent of Eidolon Skye ran into the arms of Rhodes and lost consciousness. She couldn't believe "he" (see comments) would use a creature like the Lictor. Hawkeye told Rhodes to bring Skye to safety while Hawkeye took care of the Lictor using exploding and mesh-arrows. An energy blast from the Lictor knocked Hawkeye out. The Lictor didn't consider him his foe and returned on his hunt for Skye and Rhodes. Rhodes found the Eidolon Warwear and it bonded with him. The Lictor found the unconscious Skye, but didn't consider her his foe. He then turned his attention to the Eidolon Warwear wearing James Rhodes, his actual target. War Machine took the fight to the Lictor.

(War Machine I#19) - Utilizing the drones from his Eidolon Warwear War Machine blew up the area around the Lictor, which howled at War Machine from behind the trees. The Lictor activated his cloaking to hide from War Machine, but his new Eidolon Warwear enabled him to spot the Lictor's eyes just in time for War Machine to dodge Lictor's next attack. The Lictor cut through a tree with its claws instead of War Machine. After surprising each other with quick attacks War Machines shot more drones at the Lictor. They all hit, but the Lictor's wounds healed within seconds and the Lictor then transformed his tongue into over a dozen tentacles, which it used to pull War Machine to its jaw. War Machine resisted and flew upwards dragging the Lictor along until the Lictor couldn't hold on anymore and dropped from the sky. When he hit the ground and rolled down a hill The Lictor's form was shattered only for it to reform and instantly transform into snake-like form with wings. The Lictor, now able to fly, closed in on War Machine, who blasted it with a powerful energy blast. The burning form of the Lictor dropped into Maitlin Lake. While Rhodes, Skye and Hawkeye reunited the Lictor regenerated again and rising from the lake tried another attack on War Machine. Using even more energy than before War Machine vaporized the Lictor's form. Its last burning bits rained from the sky.

The "he", who sent the Lictor was presumably the enemy of Kang during the Crossing. Since the Avengers Forever retcon Kang was actually Immortus and the whole Crossing was just a hoax to keep the Avengers occupied until the arrival of Onslaught the supposed threat Kang was fighting was....nothing. After the retcon it is unknown who had sent the Lictor to Earth to test Rhodes, the new Eidolon Warwear user. Originally the threat opposed by Kang and therefere the "he" behind the Lictor was according to rumors the Celestial Messiah, Mantis' kid.....yeah, this guy...Quoi.

The Lictor's original form was very much that of a bi-pedal carnosauria. The Lictor's second form resembled a flying serpent, a more mythological creature.

The Lictors were possibly not an actual species, but bio-engineered living weapons.
