History:

(Gunsmoke Western#64/1 (fb) - BTS) - Baby-face Smith was wanted as a ruthless killer in Montana and ran off to escape the law.

(Gunsmoke Western#64/1) - On the run from a posse, Kid Colt was shot at by Baby-face thinking that he was after him, but the two quickly reconciled and slept near each other in the woods. Seeking anonymity from his pursuers and considering his buckskin vest and white hat as easy identifiers, Kid Colt threw the two garments aside before riding off. However, Baby-face Smith retrieved them but was later captured by the sheriff in Abiline, who mistook him for Kid Colt, and hauled off to jail despite his protestations of innocence. The newly arrived Kid Colt watched in surprise and later resolved to free his impostor, demonstrating his marksmanship to prove his identity. Now revealed as the true Kid Colt, he was confronted by a large group of armed men wanting his arrest, but Baby-face Smith then told them his real name and stood beside Kid Colt, hoping to kill the lawmen and establish a partnership with him. Kid Colt refused and a short gunfight between them followed. Exposed, Baby-face challenged the other gunmen but was knocked aside by Kid Colt, saving the sheriff, and then punched unconscious. Quietly thankful, the sheriff told Kid Colt to ride away as the local prison only had one cell, and that was for Baby-face Smith.
