My, what big tentacles you have

History:

(Doctor Strange: The Oath#4 (fb) - BTS) - Since 1500, the Marrakant Hellguard incinerated every Sorcerer Supreme who had confronted it in Hell.

(Doctor Strange: The Oath#3) - Nicodemus West summoned the Marrakant Hellguard to terminate Dr. Strange. The creature appeared at Night Nurse's hospice, burning the building just as Dr. Strange, Wong and Night Nurse arrived.

(Doctor Strange: The Oath#4) - Dr. Strange levitated to confront the Hellguard but it ripped off his cloak of levitation and the Eye of Agamotto, and consumed them. Wong and Night Nurse rushed to Strange's aid, but the two were instead pulled up by the Hellguard's tentacles. Strange drew the negative mystically charged Hitler's handgun and fired at it, believing that it would kill the beast. The creature's body soon after released the cloak and eye amulet.

Comments: Created by Brian K. Vaughan (writer), Marcos Martin (pencils) and Alvaro Lopez (inks).

That etchings of it surfaced suggests the Marrakant Hellguard made other forays to the earthly realm.

Presumably/hopefully the Hellguard went back to Hell upon its death and may rise again...

Hm, there are not many Sorcerers Supreme for it to devour since the 1500s given the one prior to Dr. Strange, the Ancient One, became Sorcerer Supreme in 1666 and carried the mantle for centuries.

This was an enjoyable mini-series, but the major battles, such as against the Hellguard and Otkid, were over far too quickly given how powerful the creatures were.
