History:

(Ultraverse Master Series trading card #24/Ultraverse Comic trading card #59 (fb) - BTS) - Initially a dark shadow in Billy Stephens' nightmares, the Jumpstart effect triggered powers in Billy that gave form and life to Gaunt, who grew in a nearby cornfield. Gaunt's only objective was death.

(Warstrike#2) - Gaunt rose from the cornfield. 

(Ultraverse Comic trading card #59 (fb) - BTS) - Gaunt Overwhelmed Billy's mother, Ellen, reaching into her mouth and killing her.

 

 

 

 

Comments: Created by Dan Danko (writer) and an uncredited artist.

Gaunt appeared in only one panel in Warstrike#2; his name, background and connection to Twilight were revealed in two sets of Ultraverse trading cards.

Twilight initially appeared in the Ultrafiles section of Ultraverse comics dated September 1993 issues as "You Saw It Here ... First!"

Billy Stephens wished to have ultra powers. Gaunt was generated from 11-year-old's nightmares after the Jumpstart effect triggered his latent abilities to create illusions and manifest reality. After seeing Gaunt kill his mother, Billy called himself Twilight and hunted the nightmare creature. He was identified as the only one who could stop Gaunt.
