Powers/Abilities: Xiombar was a many-tentacled monster, but his exact abilities are unrevealed. He may have had access to the energies of one of the Infinity Gems or he may just have been guardian of the location in which it laid.

History:
(Avengers Annual#7 (fb)) - Thanos slew a monster named Xiambor to gain his fourth Infinity Gem in his first quest to accumulate them all..

    Virtually nothing is known of Xiombar, he as referenced in a single panel (the image shown above, with only the text listed under history) as one step in his first quest to accumulate the Infinity Gems, which were then called Soul Gems. It is certainly possible that Xiombar was not just extraterrestrial but extradimensional as well.

    As far as I can tell, Bill Mantlo came up with the idea of six "Soul Gems." Prior to that, Adam Warlock's Soul Gem was the only one known to exist. It wasn't until the Thanos Quest mini-series (by Jim Starlin) that they were renamed as Infinity Gems and given individual designations and domains.
    Based on ret-conned information, we can narrow down which gem that Xiombar fought Thanos over...We know Thanos stole the Power Gem from the Stranger, took the Time Gem from Gardener, and that Adam Warlock held the Soul Gem. That leaves the Reality, Space, and Mind Gems.
