Powers/Abilities: Doctor Octopus had super-octopus intelligence (on par with humans). He also traveled via a mechanical suit equipped with legs and a giant glass bubble.

History: (Timeslip: The Collection#1 - "Doctor Octopus" entry) - While studying a radioactive isotope, Dr. Otto Octavius was denied funding for a suit of mechanical arms that would allow him to handle the isotope at a safe distance. Without funding, his experiments were canned and his benefactors decided to trash the isotope into the oceans like most other polluting wastes in the 1960s. Just as Dr. Octavius predicted, the isotope's self-replicating nature caused a mutation to the life under the oceans, mutating it into intelligent life. As time passed, schools of fish became actual schools and sentient life developed just as humanity had done centuries before. As an undersea society developed, the land became the dumping ground for the scientific experiments of a mutated octopus called Doctor Octopus. Over time, the pollutants from the ocean mutated human life to the point where they could no longer breathe air and humanity was herded into the oceans where Doctor Octopus now ruled over the underwater realm.

Comments: Created by Jim Krueger and Jon Totleben.

The divergent point for Doctor Octopus' reality occurred when Otto Octavius was denied funding for his mechanical arms.

I was unable to find the Doctor Octopus Timeslip entry in any issue of Marvel Vision so I made his first appearance Timeslip: The Collection#1 since I haven't seen this entry anywhere else. If someone discovers its true first appearance (if it's not The Collection), then please let me know and I'll update the entry.
