History

(Conan the Barbarian Annual#9 (fb) - BTS) - Thogarh lived and slept for eons till arriving in the Hyborian Era. His sleeping form was worshiped by his acolytes who performed human sacrifices in his honor.

(Conan the Barbarian Annual#9) - One day, the ship which transported him and the last group of warrior-priests was attacked by buccaneers commanded by Conan. The ship was rendered useless and the priests transported Thogarh onto dry land using a boat.

(Conan the Barbarian Annual#9 - BTS) - Meanwhile, the other priests left on the ship died.

(Conan the Barbarian Annual#9) - Some days after on dry land, one of the priests spotted Conan and attacked him. Conan killed all the priests, but the last one, with his last gasp of life, beseeched Thogarh's revenge. As it was written, when the order of Thogarh died, the god would rise to avenge it. Towering over Conan, the god grabbed the Cimmerian, smacking him around like a toy. Unharmed by Conan's blade, Thogarh let the barbarian stab the sword into his brow. However, a thunderbolt fell on the sword, killing Thogarh. His wooden form was left on fire.

Comments: Created by Michael Fleischer (writer) and Ernie Chan (art).

Thogarh was killed too easily and randomly after a few seconds of life awake after eons of sleep! It could be that he had an enemy god in the skies who hated him.

Warrior-Priests of Thogarh

Thogarh's acolytes were organized as an order of warrior-priests that had developed in the oriental regions. They all were armed with swords or spears with wavy blades. They had vowed to protect the wooden, sleeping form of their god and performed sacrifices in his name. However, they were not a rich order. The last members of the order bought a ship to transport Thogarh to a safer place in the world. Unfortunately, they were attacked by buccaneers led by Conan. Left without sails and destined to perish in the sea, they decided that five of them had to carry Thogarh to the shore. The five chosen reached the shore and started transporting Thogarh down the coast but when they met Conan again and attacked him, they were all killed and the order was extinguished.
