The fiendish Neuron Nelson

(Captain Marvel in "Energy Crisis" - BTS) - Neuron Nelson was once a respectable physics professor at Narvard University. However, for unknown reasons, he decided to use his genius for world domination. He was being relentlessly pursued by Captain Marvel for some as yet unknown past crime spree.

(Captain Marvel in "Energy Crisis") - Neuron Nelson, while plotting his future world domination, developed a ray gun that could neutralize people's nervous systems, thereby rendering them tired and weak. He decided to leave his underground lab and test it on children playing in a school playground. The rays from the gun worked successfully and the children were too weak to even eat their delicious Hostess cupcakes. Captain Marvel, who was looking for the evil Neuron Nelson, arrived and quickly incapacitated the mad scientist with a punch and smashed his ray gun. The effects of the ray quickly wore off and he was taken away to jail.

Comments: Created by unknown writer, penciler and inker.

Of all the Hostess villains, only Icemaster has shown up in an Earth-616 title. He could have crossed over to Earth-616 from "Earth-Hostess," but I say leave them on Earth-616 until proven otherwise. Nonetheless, until they do show up in regular continuity, they remain outside regular canon. Surely someone will write a story teaming them all together.---Snood.

This is not true anymore as some Hostess ad villains were mentioned in the Fantastic Four Encyclopedia as natives of Earth-616. And lets not forget about Printout Man in the New Avengers Most Wanted Files.

You can get the whole story, and some clever commentary from Seanbaby's The Hostess Page. It might not meet with the Comics Code Authority's approval, so kids, ask your parents before checking that out!

Neuron Nelson has no known connections to:

The portable Neuron Neutralizer Ray

Neuron Neutralizer Ray

The energy from the Neuron Neutralizer Ray gun was able to neutralize the nervous system in living creatures and sap them of their energy. The effects wore off over time and seemed to have a wide angle of trajectory that could affect multiple targets. The range of the weapon is unknown. Even though the weapon was destroyed, Neuron Nelson probably had the skills to create a new one or even a more powerful version since this was only a prototype.
