Powers/Abilities: Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of years old, Khalis-Wu is a sorcerer of significant power and experience. He could amplify his own power by absorbing emotional energy and using this energy for a variety of effects, including force blasts, shields, dimensional transport, super-strength, durability, and mutation and mind control of others.

History:
(Marvel Super Special#5 (fb) - BTS) - In ages past, Khalis-Wu "challenged the nether-dwelling forces of the cosmos in mystic duels that shook the realms beyond man.

(Marvel Super Special#5 (fb) - BTS) - Defeated by the "Elder Gods," Khalis-Wu relocated to Khyscz -- a realm accessed from the Himalayas -- to lick his wounds.

(Marvel Super Special#5 (fb) - BTS) - In recent years, Khalis-Wu reviewed the ancient tome "Emotion as Energy," learning that he could tap into human emotion to gain virtually unlimited power.

(Marvel Super Special#5) - Khalis-Wu decided that a rock concert was filled with the intensity of crowd-sustained emotional activity that he needed, and he planned to travel back through time to the origins from rock n' roll, absorbing power from each time period he visited. By the time he returned to the present, he would possess the strength to conquer Earth.

As Khalis-Wu magically transported to the 1950s, Dizzy the Hun met with KISS, warning them of Khalis-Wu's threat, and Space Ace transported his allies to the past. At a 1950s concert, presumably Bill Haley and the Comets, Khalis-Wu absorbed ever-greater power from the crowd until his concentration was severed by the arrival of KISS. Not yet ready to confront them, Khalis-Wu attempted to flee, but the Demon caught up to him. Forming a mystic shield that easily warded off the Demon's flame breath, Khalis-Wu then granted mystic power to seven bikers, transforming them flame-headed warriors that attacked KISS. After KISS defeated their attackers, Wu vanished, traveling forward in time again.

Wu arrived at Woodstock in the 1960s taking the form of a flower child. As he approached the second plateau of his emotional absorption, KISS appeared and confronted him, and Wu caused flowers to appear in each of their hands. The flowers then produced a fragrance that sent KISS into a psychedelic realm and then to the Land of Legends.

Wu next traveled to a 1970s Disco marathon, where he accumulated further power. When KISS arrived, Wu had already taken control of the dancers. Starchild blasted Wu, but the Khyscz-born energies served -- at that precise moment -- as the final catalyst to his ascent to Earthly pre-eminence. He fired a light blast at KISS, but Space Ace formed a vibratory force bubble that neutralized the light, protecting both KISS and the dancers. When the Demon challenged him, Wu stripped off his upper robed and met him in combat. The Demon dodged an energy blast and knocked Wu down with a pair of punches, but Wu kicked the Demon's feet out from under under him and prepared to deliver a deathblow. The Cat jumped to the attack, but Wu blasted him back, knocking him out. Enraged at his friend's injury, Starchild unleashed a powerful blast of pure hate from his black star. Already filled to maximum capacity with energy, Wu was unable to tolerate this additional energy infusion, which disrupted the harmony of the massive energies within his frame, and he faded from existence.

Comments: Created by by Ralph Macchio, Alan Weiss, John Romita Jr., and Tony DeZuniga.

Though he never appears again and his origins are never discussed, Khalis-Wu would fit most likely with the Elder Race of the likes of Thulsa Doom and Tuzun Thune (or the Dark Rider's Wizard Race, who may or may not be the same thing).

Emotion as Energy

This ancient tome contained the secret for gaining vast power via absorption of emotional energy (see main image).

"Hell-Riders"

Seven motorcycle riders transformed by Khalis-Wu, they attacked KISS under his command. The Demon took out two of the bikes with his flame-breath, then grabbed the riders and smashed them together, knocking them out. Starchild took out two more with blasts from his black star (one a direct hit and one blasting a lamp post in half for it to fall onto him). Cat kicked three of them (definitely knocking one off his bike) with his platform heels. Space Ace vibrated into phase, causing another biker to pass through him and crash into a wall, and he then used twin vibratory blasts to shatter two more cycles.

The seven mutates rallied to attack KISS anew, but the group divided and conquered them with various attacks.
Wu then traveled into the future and KISS followed him. Presumably the cyclist were returned to normal...likely with shattered cycles and no memory of what had happened.

They had flaming heads and could achieve great heights in their motorcycles. They used chains as weapons. They may have had other powers, but they fell before KISS fairly swiftly.
