History:

(X-Men I#63 (fb) - BTS) - Using untapped radiations in the Savage Land, Magneto built a machine and turned several of the local indigenous people there into super-powered Mutates (Amphibius, Barbarus, Brainchild, Equilibrius, Gaza, Lupo, Piper) who were loyal to him.

(X-Men I#62) - Equilibrius traveled with other savages, having captured one of the Water-People for Magneto. Ka-Zar attacked, knocking Equilibrius aside, but he quickly recovered and used his powers to make Ka-Zar dizzy. They thought him captured just as Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl of the X-Men attacked. As Magneto managed to restore Angel to life, Equilibrius came running with news of the attack.

(X-Men I#63 - BTS) - The X-Men and Ka-Zar defeated the Mutates (including new Mutate Lorelei), and destroyed the mutator machine, reverting the Mutates back to their savage states. Magneto was believed dead and the heroes departed.

(Avengers I#110 (fb) - BTS) - Magneto returned to the Savage Land and restored the Mutates' powers to them, though they had no memory of him doing this.

(Avengers I#105 (fb) - BTS) - A group of Mutates (Amphibius, Barbarus, Brainchild, Equilibrius, Gaza, Lorelei, Lupo) kidnapped some scientists from South America and returned them to the Savage Land. They hoped to use the scientists to create more Mutates.

(Avengers I#105) - When the Avengers (Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Iron Man (Tony Stark), Scarlet Witch, Vision), Black Panther (T'Challa), and Sif came to the Savage Land to investigate. The heroes found the Mutates' base and attacked, easily defeating the heroes. Equilibrius mesmerized Iron Man, though he was impressed by the hero's meager abilities to resist him. He commanded Iron Man to fall down, but Iron Man managed to resist him and punch Equilibrius aside. His teammates defeated, Equilibrius summoned Lorelei, who soon enthralled all the men until Vision (who was resistant to her powers) knocked her out as well. The Avengers retrieved the scientists and departed.

(Wolverine II#69 (fb) - BTS) - Seeking to take control of the Savage Land, Sauron united the Savage Land Mutates (Amphibius, Barbarus, Brainchild, Equilibrius, Gaza) and a tribe of barbarians to his side. They started working to capture all of the Fall People tribe.

(Wolverine II#69) - Wolverine came across Amphibius, Barbarus, Equilibrius, and a group of barbarians with two captives of the Fall People, and trailed them back to their headquarters. They sought to kill the captives, but Wolverine attacked them. Barbarus held Wolverine while Amphibius prepared to strike with a stick and Equilibrius sent waves of vertigo at him. Still, Wolverine swiftly defeated all three.

(Wolverine II#70) - As Amphibius, Barbarus, and Equilibrius watched, Sauron and Wolverine savagely battled over a chasm of fire. Wolverine was knocked deep into the pit and buried in rubble (some thrown down by the Mutates) and a stampede of dinosaurs.

(Wolverine II#71) - Wolverine managed to use the dinosaurs to climb out of the chasm just as Rogue rushed in to aid him, both frightening the Mutates. Thinking the X-Men might aid him, Sauron ordered the Mutates to stand down.

Though the Savage Land Mutates have appeared several more times, Equilibrius has not been seen with them.

The Savage Land is a dangerous place! Maybe a dinosaur ate him?
