First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men#352 (February, 1998)

Powers/Abilities: The Entity was covered in black with no distinct features but with flames rippling around her that seemed not to emit any heat. Her touch proved to be instant death for humans. She was initially peaceful by was later angered with her confinement. The Entity became aware of her destructive potential against humans and was able to read the feelings of those around her, indicating telepathic abilities. She could launch emotion-focused psionic attacks on others, including anguish, terror and peace. Despite her humanoid form, she seemed able to collapse her physical form so that she could fit into a box-like cage. It is unknown if her powers and appearance were derived from mutation (see comments) or were inherent in her species.

The Entity subjected to testing

History:

(Uncanny X-Men#352 (fb)) - The humanoid creature later known as the Entity was pulled from another dimension by a group of scientists and probed with tests that proved torturous to her. She unwittingly killed at least one of the scientists, merely by touching him, but they were able to confine her in a cylindrical container.

(Uncanny X-Men#352 (fb) - BTS) - She was imprisoned in an explosive crate but was rescued by Dr. Sibelius who took her in a civilian aircraft loaded with passengers, including Cyclops (Summers) and Jean Grey, that was flying to Alaska and over Canada. He was aided by at least two others and had the box-like cage armed with explosives if anyone attempted to free her. However, A.I.M. had learned that the extradimensional being was on the plane and sought to claim her by going after Dr. Sibelius.

(Uncanny X-Men#352) - While flying in the jet plane over South Dakota, USA, Jean Grey was telepathically searching outside for Prof. Xavier but had to disguise herself as a bird due to the Entity's telepathic powers causing static on the psi-plane. Growing angrier because of her painful treatment and imprisonment, the Entity began a psychic assault on the passengers that caused Jean Grey's mental essence to be suddenly pulled back into the plane. The Entity's anger caused the plane to lurch, instilling terror and forcing the jet's passengers to become more fearful. Meanwhile, a cloaked A.I.M. craft attached itself to the plane's hull and A.I.M. Agents Copernicus, Kepler, Newton and Planck boarded while the airplane was in midair to kidnap the Entity for their organization's own nefarious plans.

Angered, the Entity launched another psionic attack, causing panic on board the now damaged aircraft. Jean Grey telepathically communicated with the Entity in an effort to calm her down. Blocking the explosive devices holding her prison shut, Grey released the Entity and the extradimensional being began to note the noble qualities in humans, such as could be found in Cyclops. Realizing her destructive potential against those who did not deserve to pay for others' crimes, she glided through the cabin, instilling calm inside the panicked passengers. She then returned her boxed prison cell and the plane landed without further incident.

Watched by Grey and Summers, the Entity was then taken away, still locked in her crate, to Ottawa by black Epsilons from Department H for evaluation by the Canadian Ministry of Defense.

Comments: Created by Steve Seagle (writer), Hamner, Edwards, Banks, T. Dodson, Williams, Cassady (pencilers), Martin, Edwards, Holdredge, R. Dodson, Gray, Cassaday (inkers).

Jean Grey told the black Epsilons that she thought the Entity was a mutant.

So what happened to her? Is she still locked up hidden away? Did she escape back to her own dimension during Zodiac's attack on Department H? The black Epsilons of Department H, like those who collected her, were reputed to be lethal "cleaners" who would wipe out problematic individuals, so her final fate could have been death.

CLARIFICATIONS :
The Entity name has no known connections to:

Dr. Sibelius

Dr. Sibelius was a scientist who took the still-imprisoned Entity to keep it away from A.I.M. but was traced and confronted by A.I.M. agents while he was flying to Alaska. He was working with others (unnamed) but was accused of black market profiteering by the A.I.M. agents before being zapped unconscious with an A.I.M. gun. He may have been a rogue A.I.M. scientist.
