Powers/Abilities: Lt. Colonel Pinkerton was a well-trained military man, and an able field commander.

History: (Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos#23 (fb)) - The Pinkertons were a family with an honorable military history, and Pinkerton joined the academy to follow in his family's footsteps. His younger brother Percival also entered the academy, but he was more concerned with "good times, pretty cars and fancy cars," and his grades slipped until he was forced to resign. Percival was so crushed that he avoided his own family, unable to bear to their disappointment with him. The two brothers did not see each other again until World War II broke out.

(Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos#23) - By World War II, the elder Pinkerton had become a Lt. Colonel, and led the Burma Dragons battalion in Burma against the Japanese. When the Howling Commandos helped bring a nun and her young charges through the Japanese lines to safety, Sgt. Fury had "Izzy" Cohen contact the Burma Dragons to ask for their assistance. When the Burma Dragons arrived, Lt. Colonel Pinkerton asked Sgt. Fury if he had a Private Pinkerton among his ranks, and Fury confirmed this. The two brothers were reunited, and Percival was shocked to find that his older brother wasn't disappointed in him, and understood that he didn't fit in with the academy. He was proud of Percival for enlisting and proving himself time and again in combat, and told him that he believed it was Percival's accomplishments that would be remembered the longest in their family.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Dick Ayers and Frank Ray.

Stan has claimed in recent years that Percival Pinkerton was gay, but that contradicts Stan's own backstory for Pinky that he wrote here.

According to Percy: "There was a Pinkerton at Valley Forge, at Waterloo at the Marne--", but this is all that is known about his family's histories. Valley Forge was a battle during the American Revolutionary War (1777-1778); Waterloo was the site of Napoleon's defeat by the British and Germans (1815), and Marne was the site of two major battles during World War I.

His first name was revealed in Marvel Atlas#1.
