Powers/Abilities: Patti was originally a normal college girl. She had some limited form of extra-sensory perception, as her emotional attachment to James was powerful enough for her to locate him across the country, and she could sense his emotional trauma during his visionquest.
Via merging with Lori, she has gained unspecified mystical abilities which would allow her to serve as the guardian and companion of Ghost Dancer.

History:
(Dances with Demons#1) - Patti attended college alongside friends James Owl, on whom she had a crush, and Mike. She didn't appreciate it when guys like Dickerson called James "Red," after his Native American heritage, though James didn't seem to care in the least. When James began having dreams about his grandfather as the "Ghost Dancer," a magical warrior, Patti asked James if he'd ever seen a picture of his grandfather, but he hadn't, as his father had severed ties after Nathaniel had abandoned his own wife, James' grandmother.
Patti later shared her concerns about James, frustrated that he acted like a "meathead surf bum," instead of applying himself better. James then showed up, having had another dream. Later still, Patti was on the phone with James, expressing concern for him, when Lori--the eagle spirit who had been his grandfather's guardian--came crashing through the window. Returning to human form, Lori hung up the phone, telling James to call her back.

(Dances with Demons#3) - As James began his testing by the past Ghost Dancers, Lori sensed James' emotional trauma as his own grandfather seemed to rip out James' heart. The trickster-god Iktomi sensed Patti's connection and realized that he could use it to locate James. Iktomi then met with Patti, claiming to be a friend of another friend, Mike, and convinced her to accompany him becomes James needed her help. As they approached the storm drains, Patti realized something was wrong, but it was too late, and Iktomi trapped her between himself and the Manitou demon and his Clowns.

(Dances with Demons#4 (fb) - BTS) - Iktomi, Manitou, and the Clowns inhabited the flesh of Patti, forcing her to use her spiritual connection to James to lead them to him.

(Dances with Demons#4) - As James continued his confrontation with and training by his ancestor Ghost Dancers, Patti--possessed by Iktomi, Manitou, and the Clowns--was forced to follow the psychic trail to James in the Grand Canyon, after which they erupted from her form. Patti lay stunned during the battle, during which Mike--magically enhanced by Lori--slaughtered the Clowns before being slain by the Manitou. Lori knocked Iktomi off a ledge to the bottom of the canyon, and then--in order to delay the Manitou from reaching James before he had completed his training, Lori endured, even prolonged, his torture. Dying, Lori passed her essence into Patti, saving Patti's life, while James--now the new Ghost Dancer--overwhelmed the Manitou demon.
Patti became James/Ghost Dancer's new companion and guardian. The two then vanished, to parts unknown...
