Powers/Abilities: Pail was once a top intelligence officer in China, and retained some of his skill at espionage even in his old age. He wielded a machine gun.
History: (Nick Fury Vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.#4 (fb) - BTS) - Pail was once an operative for the Chinese government, and at one time encountered the American agent Nick Fury as an opponent.
(Nick Fury Vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.#4) - In recent years, the now-retired Pail was sought out by Fury who needed his aid in locating a HYDRA base in Hong Kong. No longer enemies, Pail agreed, and had his son Weng seek out the base's location from contacts, unaware that his son was the lover of Madame Hydra herself. Pail expressed some concern for Fury's allies, John Allen, Al MacKenzie and Alexander Goodwin Pierce, none of whom were top agents, but Fury noted that they were all he had.
Weng led Pail, Fury, Allen, MacKenzie and Pierce to the HYDRA base, but had had an implant placed in his brain by HYDRA, which activated during the trek through Hong Kong's sewers to the base. Pail attacked his father and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and crushed Pail's spine across his back.

Pail should not be confused with:
Weng was the son of Pail, but considered his father an old fool, and became the lover of Madame Hydra, intending to betray his father to HYDRA. However, Madame Hydra turned him over to HYDRA surgeons who planted a device within his skull that placed him under their control. When Weng brought Pail, Fury and his allies through the sewers to HYDRA's Hong Kong base, they activated the implant, and he killed John Allen by crushing his head against a wall, then killed Pail by crushing his spine across his back. Nick Fury killed Weng by setting him on fire and snapping his neck.
