Real Name: Yathalea Marcoule
Occupation: Blade's dead lover
Group Membership: None
Known Relatives: None
Base of Operations: Her grave
First Appearance: (in dream) Blade II#2 (June, 2002); (flashback) Blade II#3 (July, 2002)
Powers/Abilities: None. Blade saw her sometimes in his dreams (this could only be a power if she was like Freddy Krueger).
(Blade II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Yathalea always told Blade that marriage didn't matter to her.
(Blade II#3 (fb) ) - Yathalea, the woman Blade loved, was kidnapped by vampires. They wanted Blade to stop killing vampires, but Blade wasn't willing to negotiate with vampires.
Angered by Blade's reaction the vampires changed their plans. They drugged Yathalea to make her appear crazy and gave her red contact lenses, fake fangs and claws to look like a vampire.
A few days later they called Blade again and told him where he could find Yathalea. Blade found Yathalea and killed with his sword when she appeared to have been turned into a vampire. It was already too late when he found out that the vampires had just made her up to appear like a vampire.
(Blade II#2 - BTS) - In a dream Blade met Yathalea's ghost near her grave. Blade told her how much he missed her and she asked him if he would love the new woman like he loved her. Yathalea's spirit accompanied Blade home and she didn't mind that he was together with another woman. Her spirit left and Blade woke up in his bed. (see comments)
(Blade II#4 - BTS) - Blade visited Yathalea's grave again in a dream, but this time she didn't appear to talk with him. Instead Susan appeared and they talked about Blade's inability to choose between the living and the undead. Blade woke up after Susan was pulled into the ground by a skeleton.

Blade II was the title published under the MAX imprint. So, don't buy it for your kids.
Seems like Safron was history for Blade at the time this series was published, but maybe she can get another shot after Yathalea's death.
Blade swore to stop using swords after Yathalea's death. He broke his oath in Blade II#5. I think the oath and Yathalea were forgotten since then.
The scenes in Blade II#1 and #4 were just dreams. After issue #1 I thought that it could be possible that Blade met Yathalea's spirit on a regular basis, but after the scene in #4 it became clear that Blade was just dreaming about her.
On Yathalea's gravestone her birth date was given as December 4th, 1971 and she died on March 13th, 2001. The series started in May, 2002 which is the time the title was supposed to play. This makes Fofo's reference in Blade II#2 true as he stated that Yathalea died a year ago. Marvel's sliding timescale will eventually make the dates topical.
