Traits: The Lethe-Beast is a large undersea monster with two appendages and a tail all covered in mace-like barbs that each delivered a sharp blast.  In addition, these barbs, when punctured, released a liquid substance that affected the human memory.  It had gaping jaws with teeth of various sizes, and two antennae.  The Lethe-Beast dwelled in the deep depths of the ocean, and could operate efficiently in that environment.  The Lethe-Beast was a light orange in color.

History: (Sub-Mariner I#9) - The deadly Lethe-Beast lived in the legendary Abyss of Doom, undersea, from which no Atlantean had ever returned alive.  When Namor, the Sub-Mariner, and Warlord Seth entered the Abyss, the Lethe-Beast quickly attacked them, smashing its bulk into the rock wall and shocking Seth, causing the warlord to drop his weapon.  Namor diverted the monster with a hit from his warpoon, and momentarily pried its jaws open with the weapon.  The Lethe-Beast threw Namor aside with its tentacle and shocked Seth again.  A blow from Namor smashed one of the creature's barbs, and the liquid caused Namor to flee with memory loss.  The Lethe-Beast quickly swam away.

The word 'lethe' implies forgetfulness or oblivion, as in the River Lethe in Greek mythology.
