History:  (Marvel Universe Millennial Visions 2001 - "Iron Man: Sleeping With the Enemy" (fb) - BTS) - In the year 2020, a series of mishaps and accidents led to the collapse of Stark Enterprises and a smear campaign by his enemies ruined the reputation of Tony Stark. In order to continue his research experiments, Tony accepted funding from the Russian government.

(Marvel Universe Millennial Visions 2001 - "Iron Man: Sleeping With the Enemy" (fb) - BTS) - At first, working for the Russians wasn't so bad for Stark but months after he began working for them, the government expanded it testing in cybernetic cloning. Despite not wanting to help the Russian government in this field, Stark ultimately succumbed to the demands of his benefactors, finding himself questioning his own humanity as the line between man and superhuman became blurred. He eventually began losing his own grip on reality as the Russian government pumped Stark full of drugs.

(Marvel Universe Millennial Visions 2001 - "Iron Man: Sleeping With the Enemy") - When another armored hero appeared in St. Petersburg, Stark managed to snap out of his drug-induced trance and take action against the newcomer. In order to escape the Russians, Tony Stark donned his Iron Man armor and entombed himself in the sewers of Moscow, awaiting the aid of S.H.I.E.L.D.
