Powers/Abilities: The Erymanthian Boar possessed the normal conventional attributes of a normal European boar (Genus: Sus scrofus) including formidable tusks and the ability to run faster than human beings (up to 30 miles an hour). It's only outstanding characteristic was its great size (reportedly about five feet tall at the shoulder).

History: (Greek/Roman Myth, Hercules III#1 (fb)) - The Erymanthian boar  was a boar of significant size that prowled and hunted on the slopes of Mount Erymanthus in Arcadia. King Eurystheus of Mycenae sent Hercules on his fourth labor to capture alive the Erymanthian Boar ravaging the city of Psopkis near Mount Erymanthus. Trapping the boar in deep snow on the mountain, he took it to King Eurystheus who again hid in a jar on his approach.

Comments: Adapted by Frank Tieri, Mark Texeira and James Palmiotti

In Hercules III#1, Hercules is shown stringing up the boar on the limb of a tree; it's likely he did so after capturing it in order to make it easier to sling over his shoulders and take it to Mycenae. (One wonders if Eurystheus at least allowed Hercules to stay for the really big barbecue that followed afterward.)
