DEEP SIX

History: (Namor
the Sub-Mariner I#58) - At a
time when
Namor was wanted for crimes he didn't commit on the surface world, he
had gone missing. Several of his allies at the time, based in
Aquaria, formed a short-lived team to go and look for him. At
Stingray's suggestion, he, Triton, Andromeda, Tiger Shark, and Tamara
Rahn scanned the oceans, and Stingray gave them the name of Deep Six,
which Tiger Shark didn't care for. When they found Namor, he was
in battle with the Avengers.
After the two teams of heroes battled (in a classic case of misunderstandings), Crystal formed a whirlwind in the water that broke the battle up. Namor subdued opponents on both sides, causing Tiger Shark and Tamara Rahn to depart in anger. The two teams then made their peace and the Avengers departed.
Comments: These characters had gathered in and around Aquaria for several reasons in the preceding issues of Namor (reasons ranging from attacks by Llyron, the development of Aquaria, and the Starblast crossover). Namor, Andromeda, Stingray, and Triton went on to battle the Abomination in the next issue, but they no longer used the name Deep Six. They later battled Morgan le Fay and the Bloodwraith as a prequel to the Atlantis Rising crossover.
