Powers/Abilities: Pickman was an expert locksmith and lockpicker, and had excellent powers of deduction.

History: (Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I#5 (fb) - BTS) - At some point in his life, Pickman became affiliated with Jake Fury, brother to Nick Fury.

(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I#5) - Suspecting that Jake had become Scorpio, Nick visited Pickman and asked for his aid in locating Jake, wanting to keep the matter out of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s records. Pickman agreed, and broke into Jake's apartment, discovering top secret files among his belongings. Pickman went to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s New York base to tell Nick what he had found, only to be turned away outside by the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents guarding the building. Pickman snuck his way into the facility, but burst into a tense situation, as Scorpio (disguised as Nick) had confronted Nick (disguised as an LMD). Pickman went to help who he thought was Nick Fury, but was shot in the chest by Valentina De La Fontaine, who had been aiming at Nick. Pickman died as a result.

Pickman was drawn to resemble actor Sydney Greenstreet, best known for his role in The Maltese Falcon as Kasper Gutman. This has led Omar Karindu to suspect that Steranko intended Scorpio to be Peter Lorre (who portrayed Joel Cairo).
