History: (Journey into Mystery I#61/4) - M'Gumbu disapproved when his tribe, the Iquitos, began raiding neighboring villages. M'Gumbu had made a solemn vow never to harm anyone in his tribe, but he was still determined to stop their unchecked aggression. M'Gumbu finally made up his mind to act when the Iquitos tried to slay him in his sleep. He invoked a powerful spell that shrunk the entire tribe to the height of twelve inches. M'Gumbu left his village, telling the Iquitos that their condition would be permanent if they didn't prove they deserved a second chance.

Comments: Created by an unnamed writer & Paul Reinman.

As with many 1950's and 1960's Marvel monster stories, this story is not confirmed as part of Earth-616 continuity, but there's nothing to exclude it either.
--Leave it in unless something rules it out!--Snood.

Iquitos is part of the northern Amazon in Peru, so that's where I assume the tribe's name came from, and where this story took place.

This story was reprinted in Fear#7.

M'Gumbu has an entry in Mystic Arcana: The Book of Marvel Magic.
