History:
(Sub-Mariner Comics I#42/3) - Vors was the son of Kog, who claimed to be the "last" of the Viking chieftains. As Kog grew older and found sailing more difficult, he came to think the time of the Vikings was over. Vors promised Kog he would succeed him, but Kog lamented that if he did, he would be the last Viking left.
Kog retired to his home for a while but Vors sensed his father wanted to die at sea rather than on land. One night, Vors found Kog had left his room. Heading to the docks, Vors saw Kog setting off alone in a longboat in the midst of a storm. Commanding a raft, Vors pursued his father. When Vors fell off the raft, Kog turned back to pull from the water. The longboat was surrounded by whales but Virs reminded his father how he'd faced similar dangers before. Emboldened by Vors' words, Kog charged the longboat at the whales and sailed between them.
When they returned to shore, Vors pointed out Kog was not as old and feeble as he'd feared. Realizing he was still a true Viking, Kog soon set sail again, plundering a vessel alongside Vors.
Comments: Created by an unidentified writer and Art Peddy.
The so-called "Viking Age" is considered by historians to have ended around the 12th century, which seems a fair era to set Vors' story.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Vors should not be confused with:

Kog was an old Viking chieftain and father of Vors. As he grew older he feared he couldn't face the dangers of the sea any longer and one night sailed off in a longboat during a storm. Vors pursued him and when Kog turned back to pull Vors from the ocean, the longboat was surrounded by whales. Vors encouraged his father to sail directly at the creatures, breaking through their line. Realizing he still had the courage to face great dangers, Kog resumed his plundering ways.
