Real Name: Evan Chance

Affiliations: Gotter Dammerung, Lester Girls, Mum (the head of M.U.M.)

Base of Operations: M.U.M. headquarters, including in its Floati-Carrier form

First Appearance: The Trouble With Girls: Night of the Lizard: Book Two of Four (July, 1993)

Powers/Abilities: Possessing no superhuman powers, Evan Chance is a genius, highly-skilled in the development of versatile and/or concealed weapons and vehicles.

Amongst his creations are an hallucinogen-emitting tie clip, a samurai-sword tie, the ultimate shoehorn and the omni-carrier vehicle.

The omni-carrier vehicle had the usual (presumably standard for his vehicles) built-in missile-launchers, machine guns, cloaking devices and extra leg-room. Additionally, with a touch of a button, it can transform into any type of flying vehicle needed, including a helicopter, mini-dirigible, rocket, crop-duster, etc.

He presumably designed the Floati-Carrier, M.U.M.'s camouflaged mobile headquarters able to travel at 200 knots. tinkerer-90223-face-samtie

A number of other weapons and devices are seen in this image.

He wears eyeglasses, presumably for distance vision (indicating that he is near-sighted), as he frequently raises his glasses to rest over his eyebrows when speaking to people in close proximity.

Height: Unrevealed (approximately 5'8")

History:
(
The Trouble With Girls: Night of the Lizard: Book Two of Four (fb) - BTS) - Evan Chance, aka the Tinkerer, employed as a special weapons-designer by M.U.M., created an hallucinogen-emitting tie clip, a samurai-sword tie, the ultimate shoehorn and the omni-carrier vehicle. He considered the ultimate shoehorn to be his piece de resistance, having taken three years to perfect.

(The Trouble With Girls: Night of the Lizard: Book One of Four - BTS / The Trouble With Girls: Night of the Lizard: Book Two of Four (fb) - BTS) - Chance was present in the M.U.M. base when, after Lester Girls' arrival, their section converted into the Floati-Carrier, their camouflaged mobile headquarters and began traveling at 200 knots in the direction of Venezuela.

(The Trouble With Girls: Night of the Lizard: Book Two of Four) - As Girls and Gotter Damerung prepared for their mission against the Lizard Lady, Gott introduced them to Evan Chance.

Chance showed Girls and Gott multiple items including
an hallucinogen-emitting tie clip, a samurai-sword tie, the ultimate shoehorn and the omni-carrier vehicle. Most proud of his shoehorn, he told Girls he would be the first agent to use it.

(The Trouble With Girls: Night of the Lizard: Book Two - Four of Four - BTS) - Girls and Gott used Chance's weapons in their mission against the Lizard Lady.

Comments: Created by Gerard Jones, Will Jacobs and Bret Blevins as part of the creator-owned Epic Imprint.

Earth-90223 Lester Girls felt plagued in his existence with great wealth, a life of adventure and beautiful women seeking to romance him. Trouble with Girls #1 (1987)

Thanks to Loki for suggesting this character to me.

This profile was completed 04/10/2025, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory event.

Probably worth noting that his name is a reference to the Frederick P. Adams poem "Baseball's Sad Lexicon":
These are the saddest of possible words: "Tinker to Evers to Chance"
