Earth-Wrecker (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Thomas Polton was an astronomer
who worked at the Mount Palomar Observatory. One day he unexpectedly
spotted a giant comet had suddenly appeared at the remote regions beyond
the solar system, which against all cosmic chance and all the laws of
astrophysics appeared to be racing towards Earth and gathering
tremendous speed, almost as if it were being drawn to Earth by some
powerful force. Aware that collision with the comet would cause
world-wide earthquakes and likely destroy human civilization, Polton
decided he should inform the Avengers before he alerted the authorities
or the public.

Battle The Earth-Wrecker) - Still overwhelmed by his discovery,
Polton phoned the Avengers headquarters and spoke to Captain America,
informing the hero of the threat of the comet.
