financially ruined. He contacted an acquaintance in the Yakuza and
explained to him that he needed a very special kind of assistance to
deal with whoever was responsible for the disaster.
(Iron Man I#281) - Sitting in his Tokyo office Takahashi mourned the loss of the life of 59 men he had hired. His assistant Ottomu provided him with the cause of the disaster, a flaw in the boron safety valves that had been manufactured in a substandard fashion. Takahashi asked who they had purchased the valves from and Ottomu revealed that, according to the manifest, the supplier was Stark Enterprises. Takahashi was surprised to hear that an honorable man like Tony Stark was responsible and assumed that he was not as honorable as people believed. He wanted him to pay, but Ottomu made it clear that it would take years and millions of yen to bring Stark Enterprises to justice. Takahashi though didn't want justice, but vengeance and had already set things in motion earlier that day to get it. Now that he had the name of the person responsible he could finally provide it to the Masters of Silence, who suddenly appeared in the room. They were already aware of the situation and were ready to go after Tony Stark and relieve Takahashi of the burden of vengeance. Takahashi thanked them before they vanished and told him not to seek them out again.
(Iron Man I#283 - BTS) - Takahashi's corporation received zero-interest refinancing from Justin Hammer, who had framed Stark, for the damage he and his company Stane International had caused.

Ottomu informed his boss Rei Takahashi that the fusion reactor failure had been caused by a flaw in the boron safety valves. They had apparently been manufactured in a substandard fashion their supplier by Stark Enterprises. Takahashi sought vengeance, but Ottomu made it clear that it would take years and millions of yen to go after Stark Enterprises. Takahashi cleared up the confusion because he actually sought vengeance and had already contacted an acquaintance with the Yakuza to deal with the man responsible. The arrival of the Masters of Silence surprised Ottomu, but Takahashi now had the name of Tony Stark he could give them to go after. --Iron Man I#281 |
