History:
(The Incredible Hulk at the Circus coloring book) - While the Hulk visited the Romita Bros. Circus, performing and assisting with the day-to-day circus work, the villainous Stuntman snuck into the owner's trailer, where Mr. Barnes was counting the day's money. Introducing himself, Stuntman demanded the money from Mr. Barnes and the two got into a scuffle during which Stuntman punched Mr. Barnes into the nearby lantern, shattering it and setting the trailer ablaze. As Stuntman fled the burning trailer with the stolen money, the Hulk smelled smoke and jumped his way out of a circus tent to rescue Mr. Barnes and douse the flaming trailer. He then ripped up a tentpole and hurled it at the fleeing Stuntman, pinning him to a wall by Stuntman's cape.

Stuntman quickly removed his cape and attempted to flee. When the Hulk dove at Stuntman, the thief ducked and Hulk collided with the trailer housing the performing lions. The angry lions escaped their trailer and in the ensuing panic, during which the Hulk recaptured the lions, Stuntman grabbed a young boy to use as a hostage as he continued trying to flee the scene. The circus' Rubber Man suggested the Hulk use him as a living weapon and the Hulk rolled the Rubber Man up into a ball and rolled him at Stuntman, tripping the thief and causing him to drop his hostage. Stuntman then fled up a ladder to the circus' high wire and the Hulk attempted to pursue, only for his weight to break the wire, causing the Hulk to fall into the elephants' hay. Not a fan of the taste of hay, the Hulk got to his feet just as the Stuntman came running around the corner. The Hulk delivered a devastating punch to the Stuntman, knocking him into the air and right into a nearby police wagon. With the Stuntman successfully apprehended, the smiling Hulk returned to performing with the circus.

The Incredible Hulk at the Circus was a coloring book produced by Whitman but all copyrights in the book state 1977 Marvel Comics Group, meaning that Marvel owns the characters in the book and that Whitman was only licensing Marvel's characters.

As with most obscure coloring book characters, I'd love to see Stuntman make a new appearance somewhere. Given his acrobatic skills, he'd fit right in with Ringmaster's Circus of Crime as a criminal high wire walker!

Stuntman's eye color was impossible to determine, as the entire book was in black & white aside from the cover, and Stuntman was seen very small on the cover...too small to see his eyes. His hair color was also impossible to determine, as he was never seen outside of his costume.

The Romita Bros. Circus was a clear nod to Marvel artist John Romita, Sr. and while we don't see the character, the poster advertising Stan the Man with Eagle-Eyes is a nod to Marvel stalwart Stan "The Man" Lee.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Stuntman
should be distinguished from:

The Lion Lady

The Lion Lady was a performer in the Romita Bros. Circus, which Stuntman ultimately robbed. In her act, she performed with two trained lions.

Mr. Barnes

Mr. Barnes was the accountant for the Romita Bros. Circus and he handled all of the money the circus took in. During one performance in which the incredible Hulk joined in, Mr. Barnes was counting the circus' money when the villainous Stuntman broke into his trailer and demanded the money. Mr. Barnes attempted to fight Stuntman off but he was soon knocked into his trailer's lantern, breaking it and setting the trailer on fire. Dazed from the attack, Barnes passed out in the burning trailer until the Hulk smelled the smoke and rescued Barnes before tossing the flaming trailer into a large pool of water to douse it.

The Romita Bros. Circus

The Romita Bros. Circus was a typical circus that employed a large crew of performers such as the Lion Lady, the stretching Rubber Man, Stan the Man with Eagle-Eyes and a slew of clowns. Enjoying the circus, the incredible Hulk visited the Romita Bros. Circus as they were setting up for a performance and he enjoyed himself by riding on the circus elephants before proving his strength by lifting one. The Hulk soon befriended some of the children attending the circus and helped the circus workers tie down the tents by pounding the tent spikes into the ground with his fists. Once the show began, the Hulk decided to perform in the circus himself by balancing on a unicycle, juggling several balls and a clown, and struggling to lift weights that a circus performer easily lifted as part of her performance. Unaware that the villainous Stuntman had robbed the circus' accountant Mr. Barnes, the Hulk was swinging on a trapeze when he smelled smoke, bouncing his way from the trapeze net outside to see Mr. Barnes' trailer on fire. The Hulk rescued Mr. Barnes and hurled the burning trailer into a large pool of water to douse it. The green goliath then ripped up a tent pole and used it to pin the fleeing Stuntman to the wall by his cape. When Stuntman removed his cape to escape, the Hulk dove at the villain but crashed into the lion trailer, accidentally freeing the lions and causing the crowd to panic. The Hulk pursued the fleeing Stuntman, using the Rubber Man as a human bowling ball to bowl over the criminal, who soon escaped onto the circus' high wire. Hulk again tried to pursue but the high wire snapped under his weight and the Hulk fell into the elephants' hay bales, emerging to come face-to-face with Stuntman. Hulk punched Stuntman into a police wagon and resumed performing with the circus, balancing himself with one finger place atop a soda bottle.

The Rubber Man

The Rubber Man was a performer with the Romita Bros. Circus. Able to stretch and elongate his body, the Rubber Man allowed himself to be rolled up into a ball by the Hulk and used as a human bowling ball to bowl over the fleeing criminal Stuntman.
