History:
(NightMan Season 1 Episode 6 (fb) - BTS) - E. Haskell Bridges was a
big-shot financial guru who scammed people out of millions of dollars.
He was eventually caught by Charlie Dann and Frank Dominus. At his
trial, Lee Prescott acted as prosecution, and Haskell ended up sent to a
low security prison. Following a fight with a guard, he was transferred
to maximum security prison Terminal Bay. While there, he got half his
face carved off. He used what connections he still had to undergo an
experimental surgery to repair his face. At some point during his
imprisonment, he established a relationship with a woman named Samantha,
who he promised immense riches if she helped him escape.
(NightMan Season 1 Episode 6) - Once Bridges' surgery was
complete, he found he was able to morph his features to resemble whoever
he wanted. He knocked out his doctor, and took his appearance, walking
right out of the prison to a waiting Samantha, who brought him to a safe
location. Later, Bridges watched TV, and aimed a gun at a report about
new city councilman Lee Prescott. The first step in Bridges' plan of
vengeance was morphing into the appearance of Lee, and attacking the
mayor.
Continuing his plan, Bridges bought a large
quantity of wigs and makeup to enhance his future escapades. Bridges
also bought quite a few suits, and then enacted his next plan: using a
copy of Art of The Deal, he morphed his face into that of famous tycoon
Donald Trump, and entered the bank. The bank manager was flustered by
such a famous person entering his bank, and allowed him to withdraw
$10,000 without ID. He later headed to police headquarters, and took
reference pictures of Frank Dominus and Lieutenant Dann, who he planned
to get revenge on.
Later, he and Samantha attended a jazz show at
House of Soul to spy on Frank Dominus, the cop who put him away. While
there, Bridges was less than pleased with Samantha's obvious attraction
to jazz saxophonist Johnny Domino, so he decided to really get revenge
on Frank by killing Johnny as well. As such, once it closed, he set fire
to the House of Soul. Learning on the news that Johnny survived, Bridges
was nonplussed. Later, he practiced morphing his voice as well as his
face.
Disguised as Dann, Bridges attended a dinner being
held for a big shot Scotland Yard cop. While there, he caused a ruckus
so Dann would be accused. He morphed his face again to avoid capture.
Bridges headed down to the docks where Dominus lived to finish his final
score. Disguised as Frank, he entered Frank's houseboat, where Dann was
staying, and knocked Dann out. Now disguised as Dann, he got in Frank's
truck; as they drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, he pretended to spot a
jumper so Frank would pull over. Once they got out of the truck, Bridges
prepared to shoot Frank under cover of the San Francisco fog. However,
Bridges was attacked by the costumed vigilante NightMan. Bridges
attempted to morph into Johnny Domino, a move NightMan wasn't fooled by.
Frank, however, was, and attacked the NightMan, saving Haskell. Haskell
then knocked out Frank, and was going to shoot him when NightMan
recovered and threw Haskell of the bridge.
Surviving, Haskell made it to shore and sat on the
beach with Samantha. He morphed his face into Johnny Domino's, a move
Samantha quite liked, before morphing it back, and promising he had big
plans for Johnny Domino.
(NightMan Season 1 Episode 18 (fb) - BTS) - Bridges
continued his plans, coming up with a big one to frame Johnny for
murder. In order to do so, he got access to secret Russian weaponry that
could inflict headaches and blackouts.
(NightMan Season 1 Episode 18) - Beginning his plot,
Bridges murdered Lisa Willit, a woman Johnny had just gone a date with,
while wearing Johnny's face. He made Johnny have a headache during this.
Later, him and Samantha were in a penthouse; he brought her breakfast in
bed using Johnny's face. She had him morph back to his normal face.
Later, they talked about his plans as he sat on top of a pool table.
Bridges, in disguise, later attended a jazz show
Johnny was doing at the House of Soul. He had Samantha give a note to a
woman at the bar, telling her it was from Johnny, as he used the device
to give Johnny a headache and get him off stage. Bridges, disguised as
Johnny, met the woman outside, and strangled her in the House of Soul
parking lot. He was spotted leaving the parking lot by Frank Dominus.
Bridges took on the form of "Ginger", a drummer,
and was interviewed by Lieutenant Dann. He told Dann that he had seen
Lisa Willit leaving Fern's diner in a purple roadster, the incredibly
distinctive car Johnny drives. Dann thanked him for his help, and
"Ginger" left and morphed his face back to normal. Bridges and Samantha
drove off to the House of Soul to plant further evidence against Johnny.
Arriving, Bridges morphed his face into Johnny's and headed up to
Johnny's apartment, telling Samantha to watch after him.
Bridges got into Johnny's apartment, and was busy
being a creep when Raleigh arrived. Shocked and confused, Bridges
managed to bluff his way through the interaction with Raleigh. He was
going to stab Raleigh with a letter opener, when he discovered that
Johnny was secretly NightMan. He feigned partial amnesia to get Raleigh
to tell him about the NightMan suit's powers and features, and they went
out for a test. Bridges flew up, getting used to the suit. He then
knocked Raleigh out, and flew him up, planning to dump him.
Meanwhile, Johnny had managed to get past Samantha,
and pursued Bridges in a spare NightMan suit. Bridges dropped Raleigh,
but Johnny caught him and set him down on a nearby roof. He and Bridges
proceeded to fight each other in the sky, eventually both using their
eye lasers against each other. However, due to the fact he had just been
carrying Raleigh, Bridges's battery pack ran out, causing his anti-grav
belt to deactivate. He fell into the ocean; as the police never found
his body, it is possible, albeit doubtful, that Bridges survived this
fall as well.
Comments: Created by Stephen A. Miller and Robert Munic.
The primary actor for E. Haskell Bridges was Cyril O'Reilly, although when he changed his face he'd be played by whoever he morphed into. This, of course, meant that things like his height also changed, although textually he was only capable of changing his facial features. Presumably he only impersonated people who were close enough to his own height that witnesses wouldn't spot the discrepancy - Loki The height listed here is the height of Mr. O'Reilly. Unlike height, I cannot easily find out how much Cyril O'Reilly weighed in 1996. The number for weight listed above is roughly the higher end of average weight for a man of that height (higher end since he has the nanobots in his face) I'm not sure metal in the face would add that much to overall weight (and if it did, it'd put some serious strain on the neck), especially micromoters which as the name implies would be tiny. - Loki
The real question is, how did he alter his
hair color, eye color and voice? I guess the last could just be down
to him being an incredible vocal mimic, but he changes both his hair
and eye color on camera during transformation, something that small
motors under his skin should not be able to affect. He buys wigs, but
then we see that he doesn't use them. - Loki
Bridges was never actually called "Space Face" in an episode, but the previously-on narrator in his second appearance said "Before our story begins a few scenes from NIGHTMAN's first encounter with SPACE FACE...", and that's a great name. He did make references to "this Space Face of mine", but never used it as a name. However, it's just too good a name to pass up, isn't it?
We here at the Appendix trust that you can make the obvious joke about Bridges turning into Donald Trump.
